Linking Skills to Local Roles & Opportunity
Skill Exchange UK is an independent, not for profit, organisation developed in conjunction with the TUC, ACAS, and leading employers. It provides a simple but highly innovative service aimed at local employer “skill recycling”, an efficient and more sensible alternative to skill wastage, by facilitating local placements for under used staff into other firms that can benefit from the ‘loan’ of skilled staff and share the cost.

Driving Employment, Growth and Competitiveness, by Promoting Employer “Skill Recycling” through localised, on-line Skill Exchange and collaboration
Key SKILL X UK objectives are to:
• Stop skills wastage and redundancy
• Develop and share skills locally
• Generate and exchange new ideas
• Champion new ways of working
• Provide development opportunities
SKILL EXCHANGE UK (SKILL X UK) extends its aims and activity through its local employer networks or 'HUBS' to stimulate initiatives amongst local Members and creates white papers, press opinion as well as gather collective opinions, ideas & policy recommendations covering a variety of employment, skill retention, mobile and flexible working issues.
The Local HUBs will:
1. Deliver a reduced level of local redundancies by exchanging staff between local hub members and
2. Offer first class and structured work placement experience to all school and college leavers in the locality
The first hub in the UK has launched in Ballymena Northern Ireland and the aim is to have 35 Local Hubs operating across the UK by the end of 2013 and 100 by 2015.
